Expert opinion
Maizières-lès-Metz is a town shaped by history that has managed to reinvent itself. Destroyed in 90% during the Second World War, the commune has built on a major asset, its geographical location. Along the Metz / Thionville axis, just a few minutes from both employment hubs, Maizières-lès-Metz combines the dynamism of a large city with the pleasant setting of a village. Maizières-lès-Metz offers a wealth of amenities: the TRAM cultural centre with a programme of national scope, a renowned amusement park, and a station linking Germany and Luxembourg.
It is also a place to enjoy good living: 70 kilometres of cycle paths, 10% of the commune's area given over to wooded spaces such as the Brieux park, and 20% of the commune's area taken up by ponds. With most of the population owning their main residence, shops and services are suited to everyone's comfort.
