Georges Brassens, the great couturier Valentino, Alain Bashung... Several personalities are associated with the commune of Crespières. Located in the affluent department of Yvelines (78), and more precisely in the Plaine de Versailles, the commune of Crespières was built on a hillside, bounded to the south by the Gally stream, a tributary of the Mauldre, a small French river. Bordering Orgeval, Feucherolles and Mareil-sur-Mauldre, the commune of Crespières is crossed from east to west by departmental road 307, which links Paris and Mareil-sur-Mauldre, and from north to south by departmental road 198, which joins Les Alluets-le-Roi and Thiverval-Grignon. A rural commune of 1641 inhabitants, Crespières is characterised by a young population, with a proportion of residents aged over 60 well below the national average.
A predominantly residential commune, Crespières is also recognised economically for its agriculture and for the production of the "Les deux gourmands" biscuits. The church of Saint-Martin, a XIIth-century building listed in the Inventory of Historic Monuments; the Château de Wideville in the Louis XIII style; the wash house built in the XIXth century and fully renovated in 2019; and the Château de Sautour, dating from the XVIIth and XVIIIth centuries, which we are immensely proud to be restoring, are essential cultural and heritage sites in this locality of the Île-de-France.
