L'Ancien Château des Forges Royales was built in 1743 for Baron Pierre Babaud de la Chaussade, founder of the royal forges of Guérigny and author of a large-scale urban planning project still legible in the town today.
From the mid-XVIII century until 1971, boat chains and anchors were produced specifically by this site, a supplier to the navy and to the large liners of the French merchant fleet.
The entire château, including outbuildings, grounds, the green courtyard and the château courtyard, has been listed as a historic monument since 11 October 2002.
Today, Groupe François 1er is restoring this property complex, with 65 homes from T1 to T2, and 65 parking spaces.
